Trick or Treat is a laser-cut acrylic puzzle with 140 pieces in a round 14” format. Each piece in the puzzle is an identically shaped aperiodic tile. Puzzles with aperiodic tiles only have color and shading to guide assembly since all pieces have the same shape. In addition, each piece can be perfectly attached to another piece in more than one incorrect way, which in the absence of significant color or shading differences, further complicates correct assembly.
Using an ultraviolet (UV) printing process, each puzzle is printed on the bottom side with any of various designs. The specialized process uses UV light to cure ink, which allows for high-quality, sharp, vibrant, durable prints on many materials including acrylic. The puzzle depicted is round with a circular outer rim to provide a guide for assembly.
